I have always envied those people who just knew what they wanted to do with their life, having flip flopped between so many possible career paths myself. In all honesty, I sort of fell into politics, but I couldn’t be more happy that I did! Whether you’re one of the lucky ones who have been dead-set on politics for many years, or (like me) you’re intrigued by the industry and want to learn more, joining us for an internship might provide you just the opportunity you were looking for.
College Green Group is not your typical nine to five. Based in a beautiful Georgian townhouse a stone’s throw away from Parliament, you truly feel as though you’re in the epicenter of policymaking. It isn’t unusual to see MPs wondering past or news crews filming on your commute into the office.
Internships at CGG will offer you a glimpse into this world. You can expect a well-rounded experience, collaborating with our different teams on real projects. Highlights from previous interns have included joining our Policy Liaison Group roundtables in Parliament, attending campaign launches, writing scripts for our newly released Next Week in Westminster podcast and even being the speediest buzzer presser we’ve ever seen at our annual MP team quiz!
I often get asked what skills make an intern successful at CGG. Of course, there are the usual attributes: proactivity, a positive attitude, a keen interest in politics. But ultimately, there is no one-size-fits-all answer – we enjoy variety and appreciate that every individual will bring a different mix of competencies to the table. Perhaps you’re a blog writing aficionado, a gifted content creator, or you have a passion for sustainability. Maybe you even have an encyclopaedic knowledge of MPs. Whatever makes you tick, we want to hear about it.
